MANIFESTO (II)

INDIAN WAY

Motto: “Perhaps destiny is written, but our desire will try to change it”.

Indian Way: an example of struggle and tenacity.
"Indian Way" is the real story of friendship and survival of Anthony and Rama, two Indians who travel on foot over hostile barren terrain during one week, from the coast of Pondicherry to the big city of Bangalore. Anthony is a ruined peasant looking for work. Rama is running away from his terrible past. Despite professing to different faiths, speaking different languages and being from different castes, they overcome their differences and help each other survive.

The meaning of life.
Many people have nothing or almost nothing to live, and every day are summed up by the fighting for survival and to avoid the own annihilation. This is the fighting of the Indian Way's characters, the fighting of all of us everyday, the people's fighting to find the own place in the world to feel as an unique person. Inside this prison that human beings have created for themselves
called society, there are not only poor people, everybody is within it.
All of us are tied to offices schedules, cultural rules, social hierarchies...
Each of us, despite the oppression of the society,
is hopeful to reach the deserved destiny in life.

Indian Way' movie: a universal vision of freedom.
The meaning of life should be that everyone is able to sense the meaning of everything: where we come from, who we are and where we are going. Every day many of us face against a destiny that seems written beforehand. This is the fighting of the main characters of "Indian Way, a mirror to any brave person who wants to undertake a similar path and decides to live a full and authentic life.

Not a easy path: Inertia collapses us.
In the crisis in which we are living nowadays, a worldwide social, economic and moral revolution is upcoming. In this sense “Indian Way” is a metaphor of the search for change in an environment which resists to any kind of alteration. As Bertolt Brecht quoted, “The crisis occurs when what is old does not die, and when the new is not just born”, and this is the situation where our civilized world is at present. In “Indian Way” our main characters fight to believe that this change from old to new is possible, a change in the manner of their own lives.

A common hope: "the butterfly effect".
If each human being from this planet does something to change the world, even with a small & simply gesture, our world will can change. It is "the butterfly effect", a concept of chaos theory. The “flapping” in the same direction from different people worldwide can change the humanity's fate.

"Indian Way",with its modest contribution, whises to give consciousness about this global
social struggle and it bets in the belief that a more just and egalitarian world is possible.

Which are our motivations with the film project "Indian Way"?
Why we have been working for four years on "Indian Way"? Why we continue forward
so tenaciously despite the difficulties? There are two ideas to define our motivation:

A subconscious motivation, which is defined as our conviction to believe that
this story deserves to be told. We are, nothing more and nothing less,
an instrument to undertake this task: make the film.

REACTIVATION 2016

Texto en ESPAÑOL e INGLÉS / Text in SPANISH & ENGLISH

Estimados amigos,
Dear friends,
This year 2016 has been re-activated again the feature film project INDIAN WAY. It has been a difícult period, full of doubts and uncertainty, but now we come back even more strongly. My team and I are currently designing a new strategy to get the necessary funding for INDIAN WAY. Proximately we will make a pre-campaign to promote the film project, and after both crowdfunding campaigns, national and international. At the same time we have submitted the project in some international workshops where we will contact potential co-producers and distributors, looking for new financing alternatives. I will inform you about this work in progress periodically.

As you know, for several years my company Batea Films SL works with enthusiasm to find the necessary resources to produce the film INDIAN WAY. The current socio-economic situation in Spain and Europe is very complex, and more to produce independent feature films with artistic and social value as our project. However, over the years of work, our enthusiasm has not waned,
quite the opposite.

The feature film INDIAN WAY was granted with funds from the Media Programme (European Union), from the Spanish Ministry of Culture (I.C.A.A.), plus some private donations. These funds have already been invested in the film’s development, thus right now we are looking for production financing. Swadee Pattaya Media Group (Thailand), Cambodia Broadcasting Service Co. Ltd. (Cambodia), Canal+Spain, Spanish Public Television (TVE S.A.), have shown their interest in acquiring the rights for INDIAN WAY, once the film is finished. The Spanish companies Cameo & Filmin have signed a letter of commitment for international distribution.
Match Factory has shown interest for world sales.

During this work process we have contacted many people from the cinema world, who have been interested in the project strongly, although none have given an effective commitment to involve them in production. Our next goal will be to break this situation of inertia and achieve that can be open the financial doors of institutions and micro-patronage. It is not easy to find support for Art House/Independent movies such as INDIAN WAY, despite all the interest that the film has received from the professional cinema world until now.

Currently we have part of the funding, the main Indian actors (Virendra Saxena and Vikas Shrivastav) have been confirmed, locations in India (Tamil Nadu and Karnataka) and the technical team in India and Spain. Also we know the details and procedures to take filming permissions in India. So, we have everything ready, we just need the final push to cover the funding we lack. We are convinced that INDIAN WAY will be a special and different film from which everyone will feel proud.

¡Un fuerte abrazo y hasta muy pronto!
A big hug and see you soon!

David Blanco
